Regenerative Sustainability Group Visit Rampion Wind Farm

Earlier this month, Members of EIP’s Regenerative Sustainability group enjoyed a visit to the Rampion Offshore windfarm in the first of two site visits offered through the programme.

The windfarm, situated in the English Channel off the Sussex coast, comprises 116 wind turbines covering 70sqkm and has an installed capacity of 400 megawatts. It will generate 1,400 gigawatt hours of green power annually, reducing C02 emissions by 600,000 tonnes each year.

Rampion generates enough green electricity to power the equivalent of 35,000 UK homes – that’s almost half of all homes in Sussex!

The group met in Brighton where they were taken to the site by boat. They enjoyed a guided tour of the windfarm and learned more about the windfarm’s contributing benefits to climate change before heading back to dry land for a working lunch and discussion about the visit.

Throughout the programme, delivered by our best-practice and networking club AMIP, members of the Regenerative Sustainability Group will also take part in eight virtual meetings. The programme aims to familiarise members with the concept of regenerative sustainability, help them to implement regenerative practice into their personal and professional lives, and encourage organisations within the social housing sector to work collaboratively for a greener future.
